Appalachian League Announces Its 2024 Humanitarian of the Year Award Nominees

July 26, 2024 - CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Appalachian League announced the 10 nominees for its 2024 Humanitarian of the Year award. The Humanitarian of the Year award is given to the Appalachian League player that has been judged to have made the most notable contributions to his community during the season through active participation in community service projects. July 26, 2024 - The Elizabethton River Riders beat the Bluefield Ridge Runners on Thursday, 9-5. Elizabethton (16-25) jumped out to an early lead against Bluefield (19-22) after Carlos Irizarry (Penn State Harrisburg) doubled to score a run in the second inning. Bluefield responded in the fourth on a Noah Smith (Illinois State) single, Bluefield's first hit of the game. The River Riders scored four runs in the fifth to take back the lead. July 25, 2024 - CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Appalachian League announced two new members have been elected into the Appy League Hall of Fame. The 2024 Hall of Fame class includes current Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker and former Major League player Dale Alexander. July 21, 2024 - The Elizabethton River Riders snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday with a win over the Johnson City Doughboys, 6-2. Elizabethton (15-25) fell behind early against Johnson City (19-19) after Braden Spano (Milligan) hit into a double play to score a run. Christian Toledo (Allegany College of Maryland) singled through the left side later in the inning to score a second run.
